Hexapod: Autonomous Recuperation Unit ARU-01

This is my contribution for TechLug challenge #20. One had to build an hexapod with a functional arm. I decided to use pneumatics for the arm. The walker uses one M motor and one XL motor. A switch allows to chose between two modes, walk and work. In walking mode, the XL motor moves the legs while the M motor acts on two mini-LA in order to steer the machine via two articulations between the three segments. In working mode, the XL motor powers a compressor and the M motor rotates the arm to 360┬░. Five pneumatic functions are directed by the compressor and air tank: three sections for the arm, the grapple and tilt of the container.

Here is a small fantasy to introduce the model: In a far futur, the planet of origins has become largely hostile to human kind after the Great Collapse. Human refugees live in scarse closed cities, surrounded by a huge desert with ruins and toxic rain. In order to supply themselves in primary ressources, cities send robotised machines for scavenging any reusable part necessary for their cevelopment such as stones, metal or plastic pieces. The journey of these "autonomous recuperation units" can last several years, as it only ends when their built-in container is full.
